BCMDA WELCOMES YOU TO JOIN OUR MISSION

BCMDA-Brevard Society for Post Acute and Long Term Care Medicine was formed as a not for profit in 1995 to help medical directors, attending physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other providers stay current in issues concerning post-acute and long term care and to serve as a link to the Florida and American Medical Directors Associations. BCMDA organizes the Brevard County Post Acute and Long Term Care Symposium.

About

ABOUT US

                                                              MISSION
The mission of BCMDA is to promote the highest quality care in the post-acute and long term care continuum by providing leadership, professional education, and advocacy.

BCMDA was founded in 1995 to help medical directors, attending physicians, physician assistants (PAs), advanced registered nurse practitioners (ARNPs), and other health care practitioners in post-acute and long term care navigate their way through the continuum of care.

  • BCMDA promotes the education of its membership in issues pertaining to long-term care (LTC), with a special emphasis on scientific, legislative, regulatory, and Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.

  • Membership in BCMDA links you to physicians, PAs, and ARNPs and opens dialogues for problem-solving and information sharing. Networking opens opportunities to become familiar practicing in post-acute and long term care, and helps you build relationships with and gain support from our practitioners.

  • BCMDA represents medical directors, attending physicians, physician assistants, and advanced registered nurse practitioners in Brevard County’s post-acute and long term care continuum.

  • As the scope of operation for post-acute and long term care facilities continues to evolve and expand to accommodate an aging population, practitioners face many new and complex challenges. BCMDA is the only organization in Brevard County devoted to providers in all specialties practicing in skilled nursing units, sub-acute, hospice, home care, assisted living facilities, as well as in continuing care retirement communities.

  • BCMDA hosts a highly successful annual educational program and trade show every November which features the newest trends and challenges from some of the top long-term care experts in the country.

  • This annual educational program is the only event of its kind in Brevard County which offers educational opportunities to all long term care providers including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, consultant pharmacists, directors of nursing, licensed nurses, nursing home administrators, department heads, and representatives from hospice & home health agencies.

ADVOCACY: Networking with the other acute care, post acute and long term care trade and professional associations.

  • Advocacy in Brevard County and Tallahassee on behalf of the members of BCMDA.

  • Providing testimony at public hearings at the county and state level on issues important to health care providers and their patients in long-term care.
